Chard Museum 50 Years and Beyond - Phase 1
Work was completed to prepare the Trustees for the challenges of taking ownership of the Chard Museum buildings. Important milestones included:
Â
July 2020 - became a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation)
July 2021 - completed a viability report identifying the financial and operational risks of buying and running the Museum premises
April 2022 - took ownership of the physical buildings of Chard Museum from South Somerset District Council
50 Years and Beyond is the Museum's exciting 4 year project to recreate itself; to provide a modern visitor experience that represents the local history of Chard and surrounding area; and become a true community hub and resource.
You can read a Project Overview, understand why the Trustees are recommending the change to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and read about the Funders who are supporting our work.
Tim Burge has been invited to project manage the first phase of 50 Years and Beyond. This will make sure that the Trustees have all the necessary information to make effective decisions about the Museum's future.
