How do we make a Booking to visit the Museum when it opens?
Bookings can be made through our website at Book Tour or our dedicated phone line at 07870 697956 between 10:00 to 13:00
Once a booking has been made you will receive an email confirming the date and time of your visit. A further email will be sent to you 24-hours before your visit with any additional information you may need. This is just in case the Government guidelines change.
When you open, how will you implement social distancing measures to ensure visitors will be safe?
From 19th July social distancing will no longer be a requirement. We will give all visitors a very short and succinct introduction to safety measures in the Museum, for example where we will maintain our 5 hand sanitising points, what is the one way system etc. Stewards will will encourage you not to touch the artefacts. This is easier said than done, especially given the displays layout in some areas.
Will visitors be expected to wear masks / gloves?
From 19th July wearing of face masks will no longer be a requirement and we cannot insist that Visitors wear masks. We will make a polite request but it is up to individual choice and responsibility. Stewards and Tour Guides will wear masks.
Can I clean my hands during and after my visit to the Museum?
Yes, we will maintain the 5 sanitisation stations in key places around the Museum. Visitors will be able to use these throughout their visit to help keep themselves and others safe.
Can I use the toilet if we make a booking to visit the Museum?
We have one accessible toilet. We have enhanced our cleaning arrangements even more.
Will schools and groups be allowed to visit the museum?
It is nearly the school summer holidays and everyone will be very busy with their own events so we don't anticipate schools wanting to arrange a visit. When the new school year starts we hope that many of our local schools will be returning to the Museum.
We are planning for work with Schools and Groups for the 2021-22 academic year. There will be a teachers’ workshop on Monday 26th July from 10:00-12:00 (cake, tea and refreshments provided). Email email@example.com for further details.
How much will it cost to visit as a small family group?
The Trustees have decided that, and to help everyone return to the ‘new-normal’ we are not charging an entrance fee in 2021. However, and to support the Museum's sustainability we may encourage visitors to become a Member of the Museum and to make a donation.
What about Track and Trace?
Our understanding is that under the new guidance Track and Trace is advisable but not mandatory, which therefore means that it cannot be a condition of entry. Many visitors will be aware of this. The government website has the following paragraph indicates 'businesses are also encouraged to continue displaying QR codes for customers wishing to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app, or to continue collecting customer contact details to support NHS Test and Trace, however this will no longer be a legal requirement' Stewards will politely ask visitors if they wish to provide their details.
