PLAQUE UNVEILING TO CELEBRATE OUR COMMUNITY TREASURE

The first phase of 50 Years and Beyond is complete. To celebrate taking over ownership of the buildings from South Somerset District Council on 31st March 2022 we hosted a Plaque unveiling as part of the Spring Festival hosted by Culturally Chard.

Nearly 40 members and visitors attended the event and were treated to cake and champagne. Vince Lean, our outgoing Chair led the brief ceremony, ably supported by his daughter Sarah, who read a message from Joan Knight who was in Australia. Carmen, Vince's wife stayed in the background but did bake the wonderful cake that was shared by everyone.

It was apt that Vince and his family were at the forefront of this celebration. During his 7 year tenure he has had to guide us through numerous challenges and changes. Not least successfully bringing to a close the Museum purchase.

Thanks also must go to Mayor Jason Baker. on probably one of his last official duties for unveiling the Plaque and for being such an advocate for our Hidden Treasure. Finally to Rev. Georgina Vye for making a blessing.
