Important Decisions at the AGM

A grant from Small Grant Big Improvement supported the Trustees to work with Vicky Dawson to create a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation and identify the future governance needs to facilitate the success of the 50 Years and Beyond project.

Vicky has had a long career working in museums. As a curator she was involved in setting up many new museums including the Archaeology Department at Durham University, for Torfaen Museum Trust in South Wales, the Edward Jenner Trust in Berkeley, Gloucestershire and for Glastonbury Abbey in Somerset.

She went freelance as a museum and heritage consultant in 1984 and has worked on contracts as varied as training delivery, touring exhibition development and project management, Registration and Accreditation assessment, research and fundraising. For the past few years, linked to her role as Accreditation Technical Adviser for the South West, she has increasingly specialised in supporting museums on Governance and future Business Planning.

Vicky said that working on this project has been rewarding, seeing the Museums ambition and foresight. Chard Museum has amazing collections that are rooted in the market town that has also seen so many changes over the past 70 years.
