Chard Museum has been identified as one of 8 local charities to receive a share £20000 being donated by the Gannett Foundation under their Cash for Charities programme. You can collect tokens in the Chard and Ilminster News from 01st November and put them in collections boxes around the local area. If you want to support the Museum and cannot find a collection box please drop them at the Museum and we will make sure they find a good home.
The Museum project focuses on one of our community engagement activities called ‘History in a Box’. These boxes would contain physical and digital artefacts that students and adults (through links with Memory café’s and residential care facilities) can touch, feel and interact with directly. As part of the project Museum volunteers will visit different groups around Chard and villages sharing and getting people excited in local history.
There are many worthwhile causes. However we hope that you will support us and the benefits of such a project. Thank You.
