Lace Riot Walk - Sunday 13th October starting out at 10.30am from the Guildhall.
During the Lace Riot Walk we will trace the main events that took place during the hot summer month of August 1842, when the workers from all four lace mills walked out on strike. The walk takes 45 minutes and we visit 7 significant points of interest considering the grievances and working conditions of the workers and how the town authorities reacted to an increasingly hostile situation. The walk takes place around the streets of Chard and is mostly on the flat.
