UPCOMING events IN 2022

Chard Museum has a history of hosting successful events.  We have an exciting programme planned for 2022. Full details will appear on this page in early January. Chard Museum is proud of being a Consortium member of Culturally Chard. This is a three programme of heritage and cultural activities funded by Historic England.

AGM: Wednesday 9th March from 19:00. Refreshments will be available. The AGM is open entry however only Members may vote.

Attend the AGM and also get a sneak preview of our updated exhibits.

Spring festival

Organised by the Culturally Chard Consortium, the full programme will be available on the Culturally Chard website.  We are launching an updated version of the Blue Plaque and Lace Riot Heritage Walks. 

 

An iSpy Trail for kids and families based on one of the wonderful Banners created by the local community will be led by artist Jenny Mellings and Somerset Artworks.

Mid-summer Open Day: Saturday 02nd July 13:00– 16:00. The Museum has yet to pick the theme for this Open Day.

We are hoping that the Chard community will help us select this and pick something from the Town’s vast heritage.

Friday 9th to Sunday 18th September 2022

National Heritage week

National Heritage Week: Friday 9th  –  Sunday 18th September. The Museum will host an evening Community Play.

 

In addition, there will be a host of events covering the 2022 theme which is Inventors. What a perfect topic to showcase our town’s rich history and heritage!

Building on our first ever programme in 2021 we will host a series of interactive, creative and fund workshops for all pupils and their families during the school half-term week.

Quiz evening

Quiz Evening: Sunday 27th November starting at 19:30, Chard Conservative Club.

 

An evening to test your knowledge, be entertained by the quizmaster and raise some funds for the Museum.

December 9th, 10th and 11th 2022

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL

Christmas Pine Tree

Opening the festive holiday season and celebrating with the schools, their pupils and our other community organisations who create and display their trees.

 

The Festival also offers an opportunity to tour the Museum and talk to our archivists about the ‘stories of Chard’.
